Bruno Bozzetto’s Allegro Non Troppo, his 1977 homage to Fantasia, has been announced for DVD release from Home Vision Entertainment, according to Davis DVD. The Italian animated film features six comical sequences which feature the music of Debussy, Dvorak, Ravel, Sibelius, Vivaldi, and Stravinsky. Previously available on VHS, the new disc will feature a fullscreen (original ratio) digital transfer of the full 85 minute version, Italian Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo, and new English subtitles. Extras include The Best Of Bruno Bozzetto, a ten-film retrospective which has also been available on tape as a seperate edition, and the Italian TV documentary I Mondi Di Bozzetto, featuring interviews with Bozzetto and actor Maurizio Nichetti (who created the wonderful 1993 live-action/animation combo Volere, Volare). Liner notes by film critic Phil Hall complete the package, due out on February 3rd 2004, retailing for around $29.95.
