DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods–the studio’s first film to be distributed by 20th Century Fox–opens today on a massive 4,000+ screens, Box Office Mojo is reporting. The site is also predicting the movie to easily win the weekend with an opening of $38 million, while Box Office Prophets is slightly more optimistic with an expected debut of $40 million. Directing by Chris Sanders of How to Train Your Dragon and Lilo and Stitch fame, the animated adventure starring Emma Stone and Nicolas Cage is faring reasonably well with critics, with the consensus at Rotten Tomatoes being that “The Croods will prove solidly entertaining for families seeking a fast-paced, funny cartoon adventure.”
