Disney announced several release dates for their upcoming release schedule, as well as confirming that a number of previously announced titles will now be given 3-D releases. First off is the news that The Muppets 2 will hit the big screen on March 21, 2014. Maleficent, meanwhile, has its original spring release date moved to July 2, 2014. Brad Bird’s top secret project 1952 will come out on December 19th, 2014. And Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will sail into theaters on July 10, 2015. On a sad note to some Disney fans, the planned re-release of The Little Mermaid in 3-D this fall is no longer happening, perhaps because of the studio’s (poor) choice to re-release Monsters, Inc. during the busy holiday season last month, causing it to dissapoint at the box office.
