It’s a new Hollywood trend to revive old cartoons by turning them into movies. The cycle continues with Alcon Entertainment and their live-action/animated combo Hong Kong Phooey, the 1970s Hanna-Barbera cartoon. Eddie Murphy is set to voice Penry, the kung-fu fighting superhero who doubles as a janitor at a police station. Murphy has previously voiced Donkey from the Shrek movies and Mushu from Mulan. Alex Zamm will direct and Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, Alcon’s CEOs, will produce.
