It seems Disney is leaning on Pixar for a little more than just their own animation department: as well as reports of the CG studio offering notes for a round of Tron: Legacy reshoots, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Pixar’s Brain Trust has been involved in how to successfully revive Jim Henson’s Muppets, with a table read of the characters’ latest proposed movie taking place at their Emeryville campus. The trust, including John Lasseter, Brad Bird, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, Michael Arndt, Bob Peterson and Ed Catmull, were all at the read, with Monsters, Inc. and Up director Docter particularly said to be a Muppets fan. “If you want good ideas, why not talk to the Brain Trust?” says Disney exec Sean Bailey, who has been overseeing the release of a string of summer duds in relation to Pixar’s 11th straight hit, Toy Story 3.
