Universal Pictures had plenty to smile about this weekend with their Despicable Me easily claiming the top spot at the box office with a strong $60 million. It was the best opening that the studio has seen for any movie so far this year. Meanwhile, Toy Story 3 managed to have two accomplishments of its own. First, it surpassed Disney’s Alice in Wonderland to become the biggest movie of 2010 so far. In addition, it also became the highest grossing Pixar film of all time, beating 2003’s Finding Nemo with a current total of $340 million. The Last Airbender, however, has proven to not be quite as leggy, dropping 57% with a weekend take of $17 million. It has now made $100 million against a reported production budget of $150 million.
