As mentioned earlier in an interview with Pixar storyboard artist Enrico Casarosa, GhibliWorld now brings details on the Totoro Forest Project, an international charity effort to preserve Sayama forest which is also known as Totoro’s forest. Sayama is an endangered sanctuary on the outskirts of Tokyo where Miyazaki got the inspiration for his much loved character Totoro from the film My Neighbor Totoro. Over 200 top international artists from animation, illustration, and comics are donating artwork especially created for this event which is being held in association with Totoro no Furusato National Trust Fund, Studio Ghibli, Pixar, Cartoon Art Museum, General Consulate of Japan and Give2Asia. The artworks will be auctioned on September 6 at Pixar Animation Studios, which will be hosting the art auction event.

More information on the event, the art collection and contributions to support the Totoro Forest project, can be found on the recently launched official website, which is already filled with some Totoro inspired art!
