On February 15th, the Chinese government issued a vague notice banning films and TV shows that mix animation with live-action. The AP through Breitbart.com reports that the ban is an attempt to minimize western influences on the Communist nation’s children as well as “promote the development and prosperity of the cartoon industry in China.” While the decree did not that penalties would be levied for violators, it did not specify what those punishments would be. The letter also failed to provide examples of “so-called cartoons that mainly feature real people and only occasionally have computer-generated elements.”
