There’s a couple good animation events in the Hollywood area this weekend. On Friday night the Science and Technology Council of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents The Animated Performance: Art Meets Technology at 7:30 p.m. “This program will illuminate the process of the animator being, thinking and creating as a performer but with the unique condition of performing through the use of technology.” Panelists include Randy Cartwright, Kathy Zielinski, Brad Bird, Eric Goldberg, Jan Pinkava, and Lord of the Rings Gollum animators Richie Baneham and Steve Hornby.

On Saturday ASIFA-Hollywood will be screening old Paramount cartoons (Casper, Herman & Katnip, Baby Huey et al) at the Warner Bros. Screening Room in the American Film Institute building at 3:00 p.m. Animated News is planning on having a representative in attendance at each of these events.
