To unofficially mark 50 years since his death in December 1966, the PBS American Experience documentary Walt Disney has been given a revised television airing by the BBC.

Originally a two-part, four-hour program, the documentary has been recut into two one-hour shows, the first part of which was broadcast Saturday evening and is now available for UK viewers to catch up on the BBC iPlayer[1].

This first part emphasises Walt’s early years, from the creation of Alice and Oswald, to the success of his initial trilogy of films, Snow White, Pinocchio and Fantasia.

Part Two of Walt Disney[2], focusing on Disney’s war effort and expansion into television and theme-parks, will be shown next Saturday, 17th December at 7:55pm.
