If estimates hold up, Ice Age: Collision Course didn’t exactly cool down the North American box office, with Box Office Mojo reporting a fifth place opening weekend of $21 million. Of course, it’s important to remember that movie is facing heavy competition from the family market in the form of The Secret Life of Pets and Ghostbusters (and, to a certain extent, possibly Star Trek Beyond). Still, it would be hard not to label this as franchise fatigue, as the original Ice Age opened to more than twice as much when it was released more than fourteen years ago. Final figures are due tomorrow.
