The fourth Transformers movie was able to pull off what no other movie has done so far this year: a $100 million opening. Despite savage reviews from critics (which is nothing new for the franchise), Transformers: Age of Extinction easily lead the top ten with a take of $100 million, Box Office Mojo reports. Meanwhile, How to Train Your Dragon 2 continued its somewhat underwhelming box office run with a $13 million weekend, while Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent continued to be one of the leggiest movies of the summer with $8 million. It has earned $202 million to date.
