Go planet! Sony negotiates for Captain Planet film rights

Any child of the nineties probably ran around in their backyard yelling, “By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!” more than once. If all the “i’s” are dotted and “t’s” crossed, an entirely new generation will be shouting the eco-friendly catchphrase. Spinoff Online[1] reports that “Sony Pictures is in final negotiations for the rights to 1990s animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers with the intention to release a feature film adaptation produced by Mark Gordon, Don Murphy and Susan Montford.” There have been talks about an animated movie and a live action series before, but nothing ever got past the development phases. No word about how the film would be made, but here’s a guess that it would probably be computer animation.
