Family Guy and American Dad creator Seth MacFarlene has been chosen to host the next Academy Awards, ComingSoon.net is reporting. “It’s truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars,” MacFarlene said, before going on to joke that “My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast.” MacFarlene recently hosted Saturday Night Live for its season premiere, and had a blockbuster this year with his live-action/animated comedy Ted. In addition to voicing several characters on Family Guy and American Dad, his voice can also be heard as Emperor Palpatine in the Robot Chicken Star Wars TV specials and Johann Kraus in Hellboy II: The Golden Army.
