GKids to bring From Up On Poppy Hill to North America

GKids has acquired the North American rights to Studio Ghibli’s latest feature From Up On Poppy Hill and a theatrical release is planned for March 2013, reports Coming Soon[1]. GKids will be handling theatrical, home video, television and VOD rights for the film. Based on a screenplay by Hayao Miyazaki and directed by Goro Miyazaki, the film is set in Yokohama in 1963, and centers on a high school couple’s innocent love and the secrets surrounding their births. From Up On Poppy Hill proved to be the top-grossing Japanese film of the year 2011, earning over $56 million at the domestic box office.
