Arrietty Biggest Profit for a US Release of a Studio Ghibli Film

The Secret World of Arrietty[1] has wowed both the US and Japan by finishing 8th in the President’s Day weekend box office. The Studio Ghibli film earned $8.1 million within four days, which is a much, much bigger profit for than the 2002 release of Spirited Away (it had a smaller theater release and anime was still in its early stages of popularity). Hayao Miyazaki and his team thanked Disney for releasing the dubbed version of the film on the Studio Ghibli website.
