The Annecy International Animated Film Festival[1] is underway in France, according to The Hollywood Reporter[2]. “This year’s official selection will be a colorful mix of 229 films, including 10 features, 49 shorts, 54 student titles, 60 TV movies, 21 TV series plus 15 out of competition features and 41 shorts”.

The Huffington Post[3] adds that this years’ festival is paying special tribute to the Irish animation community. Birch Hamilton of the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland said, “We’ve had huge recognition from the U.S. in previous years and now to be focused on at Annecy, in front of 7,000 people from across the animated world, is fantastic. There is huge talent in animation in Ireland and that is what has really made us standout”. 48 Irish projects will be screened at the festival.
