After years of seeming to be in and out of development at Warner Bros., the live-action remake of the anime feature Akira seems to finally be moving forward, Variety is reporting. The site also mentions that Tron: Legacy star Garrett Hedlund is being considered for the male lead. The movie could begin actual production as early as next spring. Set in the future, Akira tells the story of a biker gang leader who must save his friend–who has superpowers–from dangerous government experiments.
