The Walt Disney Company, which last year paid $4.24bn to acquire the Marvel Comics entertainment business, has concluded a deal with that division’s film producing partner studio Paramount to bring the upcoming films on the joint slate back under the ownership of Marvel and its new parent company. The Hollywood Reporter[1] has more. In a deal worth $115m, Iron Man 3 and The Avengers will now be distributed by Disney, in the first major move by the new owner to start securing back some of its film rights. Producing cycles with Sony (Spider-Man) and Fox (X-Men, Fantastic Four) are still in place with those studios.
