Guillermo del Toro heading to The Haunted Mansion

He may no longer be going to Middle Earth for The Hobbit, but Guillermo del Toro is set to go to another famous location[1]: Disney’s The Haunted Mansion. The man behind Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth is signed on to co-write and produce a reboot, which will in no way be related to the 2003 Eddie Murphy comedy, which while a decent enough box office hit earned a mixed response from critics and audiences. “Dark imagery is an integral part of the Walt Disney legacy,” del Toro said. “I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of my own adaptation of the original theme park attraction Walt envisioned and that remains- for me- the most desirable piece of real estate in the whole world!”
