Despite the news this week that Disney is shutting down Miramax Films, the studio’s animated Gnomeo & Juliet is apparently still in the works. With reported production problems surrounding it for years, the film is supposed to be a comic take on William Shakesphere’s Romeo and Juliet, but with talking garden gnomes instead of human beings. It is said to star the voice talents of James McAvoy (Wanted) and Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria), and is also reported to feature music by Elton John. ComingSoon.net is saying that the movie has an official release date now, aiming to hit theaters on February 11, 2011.
