Avatar scores big at VES Awards

Avatar won a number of prizes at this year’s Visuel Effects Society Awards[1], including the biggest prize of the evening, Best Visual Effects in a Visual Effects Driven Motion Picture.  In addition, director James Cameron was honored with the VES Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the world of special effects over the course of his career. Meanwhile, Disney and Pixar’s Up won a couple of awards as well, including Best Effects Animation in an Animated Feature.
