Titmouse, Inc. Taps DR Consulting for HD Upgrade On Hit Series Metalocalypse
Los Angeles, Sept 17, 2007 — Final Cut Pro facility design experts, The DR Group, announced today that its DR Consulting division was tapped by edgy animation studio, Titmouse, Inc. to deliver Metalocalypse, its ongoing series for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, in High Definition.
DR Consulting upgrades to the Titmouse facility include a Facilis Terrablock 24D for high-bandwidth and shared storage, Blackmagic 4:4:4 and HDMI products, and a variety of HD video decks including a Sony SRW-5500 for working in 4:4:4 color space.
“Working in HD required more bandwidth than our existing infrastructure could provide,” said Chris Prynoski, owner of Titmouse, Inc. “The DR Group implemented Facilis Terrablock to allow multiple users to work in a collaborative environment with the expanded bandwidth our animators needed to work in a 1920×1080 uncompressed environment from beginning to end. We are very happy with the results.”
Titmouse also hired the DR Consulting to connect additional edit bays to its newly HD capable, machine room. DR Consulting ran HD-SDI video, digital audio, and RS422 deck control throughout the facility allowing all editors access to the machine room for capture and layback via new Blackmagic Design Multibridge Extreme capture cards.
“Blackmagic just made sense for Titmouse. They were already familiar with the Blackmagic line of products, and the Multibridge Extreme gave them flexibility with 4:4:4 HD in and out, as well as analog in and out,” said Nathan Adams, Digital Technology Sales Manager, The DR Group. “Plus, the producers and compositors were able to add inexpensive Blackmagic Intensity HDMI cards to their stations which allows them to monitor the production on larger screen like a plasma or LCD, right in their office and without slowing down production.”
