As The Triplets of Belleville director Sylvain Chomet prepares his next film, The Illusionist, Times Online[1] investigates how European animation is confronting the “feel-good, fluffy-edged creations of Hollywood.” Chomet reflects, “Animation can be mature but too many cartoons have the same shiny bigeyes style so kids only know one taste and can’t tell the difference between good food and junk food any more.” Other directors who lend their opinions in the article include Luc Besson (Arthur and the Invisibles) and Christian Volckman (Renaissance).
