This December, Cartoon Network will celebrate the Holidays with a healthy variety of original specials and perennial classics. The noteworthy lineup includes Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966), Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, The Night Before Christmas: A Mouse Tale and Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol. The schedule also features the television premiere of Bah Humduck: A Looney Tunes Christmas.
Cartoon Network Has Plenty of Programming Hand-Outs for the Holidays
Christmas Classics Return and New Specials Make Their Merry Debut Beginning Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.
It’s time to cuddle up in a blanket and enjoy that warm, fuzzy holiday feeling when Cartoon Network kicks off its Christmas programming on Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. (ET, PT) with the premiere of Bah Humduck: A Looney Tunes Christmas featuring classic Looney Tunes characters. Every Sunday-Thursday night in December will be merry with Christmas-themed programming at 7 p.m. (ET, PT) and each Friday night will feature a holiday special. And to top it all off, there’s a Christmas Party on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, which means nothing but holiday programming all day long.
Also featured in the month-long celebration are Cartoon Network holiday specials from original series, including Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, The Powerpuff Girls and a new holiday episode of Ben 10 premiering Monday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. (ET, PT). And, of course, there will be a generous gift of animated holiday classics like Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Mister Magoo’s Christmas Carol. PREMIERES
· Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.: Bah Humduck: A Looney Tunes Christmas – Daffy Duck plays a modern Scrooge, owner of the Lucky Duck department store chain, who has a lesson to learn about the meaning of Christmas. Porky Pig’s daughter, Pricilla, Bugs and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future try to turn Daffy around and warm his heart to more than just money. Other classic Looney Tunes characters Yosemite, Tweety and Taz also star in this new version of Charles Dickens’ classic tale. Encore presentations: Sunday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 24, at 11 a.m.
· Monday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m.: Ben 10: “Merry Christmas” – When the Rustbucket’s a/c goes on the fritz in the middle of the desert, Ben, Max and Gwen take refuge at Holiday Village, an over-the-top Christmas theme park that seems to appear out of nowhere. It turns out the place is run by an evil entity known as Mr. Jingles, who takes Max prisoner, because he believes Max is Santa! It’s up to Ben and Gwen to free Max and break the spell Mr. Jingles has cast on Holiday Village , freeing others who’ve been trapped there for years and releasing the theme park from its “Brigadoon”-like existence. · Monday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m.: Pokémon Chronicles: “Pikachu’s Winter Vacation – Christmas Night and Kanga Games” – Pikachu and friends are up to Christmas mischief while they are home alone. Then they show a baby Kangaskhan how to play in the snow. Encore presentations: Thursday, Dec, 21, at 7:30 a.m.; Friday, Dec. 22, at 12 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 24, at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

· Sunday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m.: The Powerpuff Girls: “‘Twas the Fight Before Christmas” – The Powerpuff Girls are busy saving Christmas everywhere when Princess, Townsville’s greediest little girl, plots to trick Santa into turning her into the fourth Powerpuff Girl. Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup explode into a Yuletide winter blizzard of bad-girl-thwarting action to put Princess in her place and keep Christmas from disappearing forever. · Monday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.: Ed, Edd n Eddy’s Jingle, Jingle, Jangle – Eddy’s Christmas falls to pieces after he discovers that all his soon-to-be gifts are socks, underwear and other clunkers. Eddy decides to take Santa’s job into his own hands by attempting to get himself adopted into all of his friends’ families, thereby siphoning off their Christmas payload. Eddy learns about how his friends celebrate the holiday, while best friends Ed and Double-D try to convince him that Christmas is about spreading cheer not greed. · Monday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m.: Codename Kids Next Door: “Operation Naughty” – When the North Pole is attacked and Santa’s gift-giving device is stolen, all clues point to the Kids Next Door. Now, Numbuhs One through Five must defend themselves against an elite squad of super-powered elves while trying to discover who set them up before every Christmas present in the world is turned into coal. But when their experiments backfire, they must learn to regain their faith in Santa and prevent the worst Christmas ever. · Thursday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m.: The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy: “Billy & Mandy Save Christmas” – To prove to Billy and Mandy that Santa Claus is real, Grim takes them to the North Pole where they find Mrs. Claus and the elves, but no Santa. They quickly discover there’s been a terrible accident – Santa Claus has been turned into a vampire. Billy, Mandy and the Grim Reaper set out on an adventure to save Santa and Christmas before vampires take over the North Pole and destroy Christmas. · Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m.: Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Disguised as Santa Claus, the Grinch, along with his loveable dog, Max, steals everything that has to do with Christmas from the town of Whoville. However, he finds that he cannot steal the one thing that makes Christmas special: love for one’s fellow man. The Grinch learns the meaning of Christmas, returning all of the stolen goods back to the Whos and joining in their celebration. Encore presentations: Friday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 21, at 8:30 a.m.; Sunday, Dec. 24, at 12 p.m.; and Monday, Dec. 25, at 9:30 a.m.
· Thursday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m.: Casper’s Haunted Christmas – Casper, The Friendly Ghost, is home for the holidays in Casper’s Haunted Christmas. Casper’s in high spirits until Kibosh, supreme ruler of all ghosts, decrees that Casper must scare at least one person before Christmas Day or be exiled, along with The Ghostly Trio, into eternal darkness. As usual, kind-hearted Casper has a ghastly time trying to scare anyone. The Ghostly Trio, fed up with his behavior, secretly hires Casper’s look-alike cousin Spooky to do the job. Encore presentation: Sunday, Dec. 17, at 12:30 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 21, at 9 a.m.; Friday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 24, at 2 p.m.
· Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m.: The Legend of Frosty the Snowman – When Frosty blows into chilly Evergreen, a perfect little town where fun is against the rules, he’s shocked to learn that the kids don’t know how to ice skate, pack a snowball or even use a sled. Frosty teaches everyone to have fun in their winter wonderland and in the process sets off a kid revolution. But the evil, ambitious Principal Pankley steps in to take control, by dethroning good-natured Mayor Tinkerton and making Evergreen more orderly than ever. Now it’s up to Tinkerton’s son Tommy to save his dad and the town, with a little help from his new friend, Frosty. · Friday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m.: Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer – This holiday story expands on the song of the same name. Grandma and her little general store are in danger of being bought out by developers in the town of Cityville. While Grandma tries to save her store, her grandson, Jake, attempts to save his belief in Santa Claus and the Christmas spirit. Encore Presentations: Wed., Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 17, at 11:30 a.m.; Monday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m.; Friday, Dec. 22, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m.; Sunday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m.; and Monday, Dec. 25, at 8:30 a.m.
· Saturday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m.: The Night Before Christmas: A Mouse Tale – On a cold Christmas Eve, the Mouse Family is bulldozed from their underground home. Cold and homeless, the family sets off to find new lodgings and, when all else fails, reluctantly seeks shelter in the home of the Atwell family. As Charles Atwell reads the classic poem The Night Before Christmas to his two children at bedtime, the mice see the Atwell’s decorated living room. Amazed at the enormous Christmas tree and bright decorations, Skip and Squeek sneak out of bed and into the Atwell living room to discover the real meaning of Christmas.
· Sunday, Dec. 17, at 3p.m.: Olive the Other Reindeer – Olive the dog travels to the North Pole to help Santa Claus when one of Santa’s reindeer breaks a leg. Olive the Other Reindeer, a one-hour feature, is created by Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, and Olive is voiced by Drew Barrymore. Encore presentations: Thursday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 22, at 8 a.m.
· Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m.: Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol – This animated special marks a merry marriage between one of the screen’s greatest cartoon characters, Mr. Magoo, and the heart-warming holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. Jim Backus (Gilligan’s Island) lends his unmistakable voice to the lovably near-sighted Magoo, who stars in a Broadway version of the Charles Dickens tale, impeccably cast as Ebenezer Scrooge. Encore presentation: Sunday, Dec. 24, at 6:30 a.m.
· Thursday, Dec. 21, at 8 a.m.: The Night B4 Christmas – Elvin harbors dreams of leaving the North Pole, where he works in Santa’s workshop, and becoming a music star. He works up the courage to leave and follow his dream. Elvin makes some new friends but soon learns the hard truth about the music business. When Santa himself becomes ill, Elvin must decide to put his pride aside in order to get the gifts where they need to be on Christmas Day. Encore presentations: Sunday, Dec. 24, at 10:30 a.m.; and Monday, Dec. 25, at 6 a.m.
· Sunday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m.: Frosty the Snowman – When a group of children place a hat they find on top of their finished snowman, their masterpiece suddenly springs to life. But their new friend, who they name Frosty, will melt in the spring unless he takes refuge in a colder climate. Frosty and his new friends stow away on a freight train headed for the North Pole, but they don’t realize that the former owner of the hat is following them and wants his hat back.
