Animation rules at 2006 DVD Exclusive Awards

DVD Exclusive[1] has announced the winners[2] of the 2006 DVD Exclusive Awards giving top prizes to a number of animated DVDs. Of the 26 awards presented, half were handed to the animation medium. The top winners of the night were The Incredibles with four wins including Overall DVD, New Movie and Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story and Tarzan II with three awards each. Lilo & Stitch 2, The Simpsons, and Bambi round out the other animated victories with one win each.

Buena Vista took the night with nine total awards primarily for its champions The Incredibles, which won four of the six awards it was nominated for, and Tarzan II which picked up three nods for its music (both Original Score and Original Song in a DVD Premiere Movie with Phil Collins’ “Who Am I?” winning the latter) and Visual Effects. Along with Overall DVD, The Incredibles also won Behind-the-Scenes Program for Making of The Incredibles, New Movie Scenes for Jack-Jack Attack, and Menu Design. Buena Vista’s other awards came in the form of Original Music Video for “Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride,” performed by Jump5 on the Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch DVD and Games and Interactive for “Forest Adventure Game” on the Bambi Special Edition DVD.

Fox also took five awards prominently featuring the three wins by quadruple nominee Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. The premeire DVD walked away with the coveted Overall Movie, Animated DVD Premeire as well as Screenplay and Animated Character Performance (Voice and Animation) for a DVD Premiere Movie the second coming for Seth MacFarlane’s portrayal of Stewie Griffin. The tripple nominated The Simpsons: The Complete Sixth Season also netted the studio an award for Overall DVD, TV Program.
