AnniesMarque05b (24k image)Chuck Oberleitner gives a rundown of last night’s Annie Awards held at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA (More reports at Cartoon Brew/Animation World Network). Brad Bird’s Disney/Pixar film The Incredibles was the big winner of the night, soaring off with ten awards – getting a win in every category it was nominated in. The Joe Grant/Mike Gabriel short Lorenzo won Best Short Subject, SpongeBob SquarePants won for Best Animated Television Production, and The Lion King 1½ won Best Home Entertainment Production. The Annie Award winner for Best Animated Feature has gone on to win the Academy Award every year since the Oscar category was added four years ago. The awards are presented by The International Animated Film Society to honor outstanding animation in television and film. A full list of winners and nominees follows:
