Although we’ve mentioned it on a couple of past occasions, this really is my last chance to highlight the UK TV showing of the Oscar-worthy Belleville Rendezvouz (The Triplets Of Belleville) on the BBC 2 channel. Sylvain Chomet’s astonishing film (the best I have seen produced outside of the main studio system) is sure to be in the running come next year’s handout of the Best Animated Feature Academy Award (the smart money is on this, or Nemo, to take home the gold), and is the perfect Christmas television treat! A film for all ages (and all languages – don’t let the French flavor put you off), gather the family around for the showing tonight, on BBC 2 at 7pm.

Digital Cable viewers also have the chance to catch Chomet’s earlier, equally innovative short film, The Old Lady And The Pigeons, which inspired Belleville‘s Madame Souza character, on the BBC 4 channel, right after the main feature, at 8.25pm. May I also take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays wherever you may be!
